Short Bio

Maria Boftsi received her PhD in Pathobiology from University of Missouri-Columbia in 2021. In her graduate study at the laboratory of Dr. David Pintel she focused on the interactions between parvoviruses, included Minute Virus of Mice (MVM) and Adeno-Associated Virus (AAV), and host cells. They adapted high-throughput Chromosome Conformation Capture Assays to study how parvoviruses establish replication centers in host cells and identified viral and host factors that facilitate this process. As a post-doctoral fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Henry Wan, her research focuses on the development of novel Influenza and SARS-Cov-2 vaccines and therapeutics, as well as on the development and application of novel methods for Influenza vaccine strain selection.
